The first pick in the ground was launched by the Honourable Ward 23 Councillor Sarah Wissler. The ground breaking ceremony took place outside the Glenvista Country Club on Monday morning, 17 July 2017. GANSRA Chairperson Andre Wissler along with GANSRA Directors Lieanne Badenhorst and Kim Kotze, attended the ceremony in support of bringing VUMA Fibre to the suburb. “We are thrilled to be introducing VUMA Fibre to Johannesburg South, not only because of the sheer excitement expressed by the residents of the South but mainly because of the opportunities that the high-speed fibre network presents for local entrepreneurs, schools, gamers as well as the security conscious” – Jason Grobler, Vumatel Business Development Manager.
The Vumatel Fibre network roll out includes; Bassonia, Glenanda, Glenvista and Malburton but as the demand for super-fast broadband increases, Vumatel plans to extend the build to the rest of Johannesburg South and surrounding suburbs. Vumatel will build its open access fibre network in partnership with the community and connect every home, complex and apartment block to super-fast world-class fibre broadband. Vumatel will also connect every certified Primary and High school passed when deploying the network to free 1Gbps fibre broadband. “It is always great to see such strong support from the community for our fibre projects, and we look forward to a successful rollout in this new region” - Tholo Lerotholi, Vumatel Senior Fibrehood Manager.
